Who is Pastor Adam Spore?
Where did you come from?
I grew up in the United Methodist Church, literally. As the son of a United Methodist Pastor, I have experienced some of my most profound life lessons in the churches and parsonages where my father was appointed. The one place I still call my childhood home is Whitesboro, TX. We lived there from the middle of my second grade year up until my first year in Seminary in 2007. It was there that I began to learn what it meant to be the Church and heard my call to ordained ministry as a young teenager.
Why did you become a Pastor?
I became a pastor because it is the call God has placed in my life. When I was 14 years old, I began asking numerous questions about what the church did, what it was about, and how it was organized. Since all these questions were directed at my father, he wisely guided me to become involved in the leadership of our local congregation and Annual Conference. Through those experiences, God affirmed the call I had been feeling and led me through my journey to become an ordained Elder in the United Methodist Church.
What do you see as the future for this Community?
The community of Leonard, TX, has been a friendly, welcoming little town for generations. While not much has changed over the years, there are indicators that our community is experiencing some growth and change with new businesses and people coming to town. This community has the innate ability to rally around causes and people in need whenever they arise. I see opportunities for us to come together and reach the mission field where God has placed us to make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of God’s world.
What do you do in your free time?
I do my best to schedule free time into my daily/weekly routine to be able to spend time with my family. With a toddler in our lives, my wife and I make sure we regularly eat as a family and play together before our daughter’s bedtime. When I get some free time to go on a date night with my wife, we usually go to dinner and see one of the latest blockbusters. Beyond family time, I like to golf, fish, and play videogames.
What does your relationship with God mean to you and your family?
My relationship with God is one of love, trust, and constant guidance. God has been a constant presence in my life since I was born, and my wife and I strive to make that the reality for our daughter. Because of my close and strong relationship with God, I have experienced numerous ways in which the Grace of God has gone before me and led me to where I am today. I trust that God will continue to use me as the hands, feet, heart, and voice of Christ wherever I am and will lead me to the places where my gifts and talents can share God’s love with whomever I encounter.
